HOW IS IVY STREET PLUMBING GROWING IN SUCH A TOUGH MARKET WITH SO MANY CHALLENGES?

It’s no secret the past 2 years have been extremely challenging for business owners, with bushfires, Covid lockdowns and more recently, flooding!
As plumbers, we couldn’t isolate and work from home, but we have been lucky to provide an essential service.
Although you’d think this would ensure plenty of work, we’re very aware many tradies haven’t fared so well during this time. For a myriad of reasons, many businesses have closed down.
What is our secret?
While we’ve faced our own share of challenges, like tradies out with Covid, we’re really proud we can continue to thrive despite the obstacles. How do we do it?
Efficient systems and processes
We have systems in place to ensure the business runs smoothly.
We have a support crew
Our small admin and marketing team support us. They do a great job promoting us on social media as well as running other marketing campaigns for us.
Embracing the art of conversation
Nothing replaces having a simple conversation with someone and taking genuine interest in their needs. It allows you to develop a personal connection. It shows you care!
Whether it’s customers, another tradie, service providers or staff, connecting in person is simple.
Remember business can come from unlikely places
We’re big believers in the power of building relationships. Networking is an obvious way of meeting potential new clients, as well as being an opportunity to help others. Plus, you never know who someone else might know. While the person may not seem like a potential client, their cousin, brother or sister’s best friend might be!
Vehicle signage invites business
Recently a member of our team was packing up near one of our vans, featuring the Ivy Street Plumbing logo, when a man approached him. After a great conversation, we have a new maintenance plumbing client – a Strata building with over 270 units!
Long term relationships will see you through tough times
Some of our clients have been with us since we took over Brad’s Father’s business. Many have been with us since the 1950’s! We have a great working relationship with them and consider them part of the Ivy Street Family.
Provide a great service, and you’ll build your business with referrals
Many of our newest customers have been referred by our satisfied long-term customers. We believe providing a great service is the best form of marketing. In turn, some of these newest customers are so happy with us, that they have referred other customers too.
